Most major airlines fly into airports located in Launceston, Hobart, Wynyard and Devonport. Hobart is 200 kilometres (125 miles) from Launceston and travel time by car or bus is approximately two hours and ten minutes. Devonport is 100 kilometres (62 miles) from Launceston and travel time by car or bus is approximately one hour.
Launceston Airport is serviced by Qantas, Jetstar, Virgin Blue and Tiger Airways, and is just a 50 minute flight from Melbourne.
Or if you would prefer to travel by ferry, the Spirit of Tasmania travels across Bass Strait year round, between Station Pier in Port Melbourne and Devonport on Tasmania's north west coast.
