Brightly painted bus Art Safari, similar to a pub crawl, is a unique opportunity to wander and sample a degustation menu of galleries featuring key exhibitions from the festival program including rrala manta manta, Primed, KP11 and other mystery exhibitions.


The Junction Function: Conference Dinner

Saturday, August 28, 7:00 pm - 12:00 am

Often described as "the garden of Eden," Launceston and the Tamar valley is renowned for fresh produce, boutique cool-climate wines and handmade cheese. Taking advantage and showcasing local, seasonal produce the Junction Function menu, designed by celebrity chef Fiona Hoskin, will delight delegates at one of Launceston's most beautiful venues: the Albert Hall. Interspersed throughout the courses is a degustation menu of dance programmed by Tasdance's company member Trisha Dunn. The evening will include the Regional Arts Australia Volunteer Awards presented by His Excellency Michael Bryce and conclude with a dance band hand selected by Artistic Director Ian Pidd.

Carbon Offset

Junction 2010 is partnering with Climate Friendly to take action on climate change by encouraging delegates to offset emissions associated with their participation in the event by purchasing VCS International renewable energy carbon credits. We encourage you to offset at least your emissions, but have also provided the ability for you to offset someone else's.

MOVED BY US aims to get regional arts workers to view and adopt dance as a valid and vital form of regional arts practice; explore dance in regional communities from producing, presenting and participatory perspectives; hear first-hand about examples of dance by, with and for regional communities programmed by the Junction 2010 organisers; and kick-start new thinking and ideas on dance in regional communities.

rrala manta manta (strong: long way, long time) forum*

From August 27th, 2010 The Design Centre Tasmania is welcoming visitors to view significant works of Tasmanian Aboriginal art and craft with the venue's first major Tasmanian Aboriginal Art exhibition, rrala manta manta (strong: long way, long time). To coincide with the exhibition, The Design Centre Tasmania will host the rrala manta manta forum. During this day-long forum, guest speakers will explore current concerns for Aboriginal artists and discuss possible future issues. The forum will conclude with an open panel discussion, with all guests encouraged to engage and exchange ideas. This will be a rewarding and enlightening day for all indigenous art practitioners, those involved in the arts industry as well as those who have already fostered an appreciation of Aboriginal art and are keen to know more.
